  17. I'm currently engaged in deploying an application that utilizes
  18. the latest version of K95.  Of the 300 sites, we're in about 50.
  19. 2 of these sites are unable to reliably connect to their
  20. intended server, but share a common pattern that perhaps you'll
  21. recognize.

  23. If we first connect to the server with HyperTerminal, K95 will
  24. execute the script and perform like a champ.  If not, it will
  25. fail in various ways--either "you must set port or host..." or
  26. "no carrier detected" are popular.
  27.  
  28. The text I've read concerning K95cinit.exe seems like it might
  29. be related, but there's a number of variations:
  30.  
  31. 1)  One machine is Windows ME--the text suggests it's a Windows
  32. 9x problem.
  33.  
  34. 2)  We've tried connections (on both machines) using TAPI and
  35. port/modemtype, but the results do not vary.
  36.  
  37. 3)  The issue that K95cinit was intended to fix, is no longer an
  38. issue with K95.
  39.  
  40. A copy of K95cinit is enroute to the difficult sites, and we
  41. should be able to see if this replicates whatever HyperTerminal
  42. is doing.  Also, line quality checks are being performed.  In
  43. both cases, though, these workstation have recently (within 3
  44. months) transmitted data to a different server using a different
  45. client application.

  47. Only K95.EXE installed on the target machine.  No INI files are
  48. made available--everything is done from a script this is
  49. dynamically formed from a mostly static template.  K95 is
  50. invoked with:

  54. I've gone through the connection diagnosticts section in Using
  55. C-Kermit, but my difficulty seems to lie before a connection
  56. attempt is made.  It either will run normally, or it immediately
  57. fails.
